Global Horizons is the charity which was set up by Rees Howells to enable the fulfilment of his vision to reach the nations and is committed to training people to take the Christian message to the nations in the 21st century. We do this by partnering with the worldwide Church through the provision of theological training across the world.
Today, many of the world’s 6.6 billion people have never heard of Jesus Christ. When he spoke to his first disciples over 2000 years ago, Jesus explained to them that the ‘harvest fields’ were vast and ready. He urged them to pray that the Lord of the harvest would send labourers into the fields. Global Horizons is committed to training such workers with the necessary skills for the 21st century.
We live in both exciting and challenging times. The world has changed almost beyond recognition since 1924, when Rees Howells opened his first training college. Globalisation has arrived; we can communicate in split seconds with people anywhere in the world and we can travel almost anywhere we wish. The world is more accessible than ever before.
Our strategy for this century is to continue training in the UK, whilst at the same time increasing our investment in local, overseas training - particularly in parts of the world where the church is poorly resourced. All UK training takes place in Rugby at Trinity School of Theology. Global Horizons also invests in overseas training, working with training partners in Southern Africa and India. In due course, we will look to increase our investment in partnerships we have in the Far East and other parts of the world.
